I am also the current webmaster for the Sanford School website. For the past year, the web committee has been working on revamping and updating our web presence and communications, taking the input from you the users and trying to address the changes you would like to see. Thank you to all of you who responded to our web survey. The goal of this blog will be to hopefully keep that dialogue with you open, and to keep you informed as we the web sites continue to grow.

The redesign of the website is the first of several web initiatives we hope to launch this year. The way the content is organized in the site is not drastically different, but we are hoping that some of the new features will make it easier to find. We have streamlined the navigation buttons to hopefully be more intuitive for directing you where to go. We have added a site map so you can have one page that will link you to almost all of the sections of the website. Finally, we have added a much improved search ability within the site. (One caveat though, the site is right now going through what is called being "re-indexed," and if the search is not totally accurate the first day or two, please have patience and try again.)

One other big area that has received an overhaul is the alumni portal. Several of you said that you wanted the online alumni directory to offer more ways to keep in touch with your fellow alumni and that you wanted your information behind a password-protected site. Well, the directory has expanded into an online portal where you can share a lot more about yourself, and soon you will be able to search and network in a lot more ways. This is one area that will be seeing new features added as we get feedback, so please let us know what you want.

Finally, I want to stress that this is just the first of multiple new web initiatives. Many of you in your feedback also expressed wanting to have a password-protected part of the site directed at current families. We are hoping to launch in the not-too-distant future an inside portal based off the Google Education offerings. There will be more about that later, though.

If you have any comments, questions, concerns or other feedback, please don't hesitate to let me know. You can either comment on this blog or email me at webmaster@sanfordschool.org.
